Spellbinders Dies are designed around the Wizard® Embossing & Die Cutting System and Xcalibur™ Motorized Cutting & Embossing Machine. However, we have found that they do have limited compatibility with other systems . Please be advised that Spellbinders two-year Warranty on Spellbinders Dies may be voided by using the dies in other systems. Spellbinders makes no guarantees about the cutting or embossing quality of any system other than the Wizard and Xcalibur’s Cutting Systems.

Please check the warranty on your die-cutting system before using Spellbinders Dies with it. Spellbinders is not responsible for any damage incurred by using Spellbinders Dies with other systems.

Big Kick Impression Pad

Sizzix®

Capabilities

Ellison® manufactures the Sizzix® Adapter and the Sizzix® System Converter. Together, those components allow the cutting of Spellbinders Dies that are smaller than the Sizzix® Adapter, which measures 2 3/8” by 2 5/8”. This includes most Spellbinders Fonts, Collectabilities™ and Shapabilities™. The Sizzix® Adapters are sold in packages of ten and several can be used side by side to allow for the cutting of larger Spellbinders Dies. Use Spellbinders Tan Embossing Pad to emboss Spellbinders Dies in the Sizzix® Machine.

How to Use a Spellbinders Die in the Sizzix® Machine:

Place the Sizzix® System Converter into the Sizzix® Machine.

On the Cutting Pad, place paper to be cut, Spellbinders Die, ridges down.

Place a Sizzix® Adapter over the Spellbinders Die, then cut as normal.

Leave the cut paper in the die. Turn the die over so that the ridges are facing up. Place back on the cutting pad without the Sizzix® Adapter.

Layer a Spellbinders Tan Embossing Pad over the die.

Press in the Sizzix® Machine. Shim with extra pieces of cardstock to deepen the embossed impression if needed.

Sidekick™ & Tag-a-Long™

Capabilities

The Sizzix® Adapter does allow the cutting of Spellbinders Dies with the Sidekick™ & Tag-a-Long™, however, this is limited to most Spellbinders Fonts, Collectabilities™ and Shapabilities™, due to the limiting size of the Sizzix® Adapter. The Sidekick™ & Tag-a-Long do not allow for the embossing of Spellbinders Dies.

Zip’eMate™ by Accucut®

Capabilities

This machine is capable of cutting and embossing any Spellbinders Die.

How to use a Spellbinders Die in the ZEM:

Place a Spellbinders Die on ZEM’s platform, blade side up.

Place paper over die and cut in the same manner as with Zip’eCuts.

After cut, do not remove the die or the paper from the platform. Place ZEM’s Embossing Foam over paper and with the ZEM’s Embossing Mat, roll through again to emboss the die-cut.

QuicKutz®

Capabilities

The QuicKutz® hand tool is capable of cutting smaller Spellbinders Dies, such as the Spellbinders Fonts, Collectibilities™ & Shapabilities™. It is not capable of embossing Spellbinders Dies.

How-To

Place a Spellbinders Die and paper into the hand tool.

Squeeze to cut as normal.

Revolution™ by QuicKutz®

Capabilities

This machine is capable of only cutting Spellbinders size 3 Dies, Fonts, Collectibilities™ & Shapabilities™.

How-To Cut with Spellbinders Dies

Place die onto Revolution platform (cut side up).

Place paper or cardstock on top of die.

Place acrylic cutting mat on top of die.

Roll thru Revolution machine.

How-To Emboss with Spellbinders Dies

Remove acrylic cutting mat.

Leave die in place with die cut still inside die.

Place Spellbinders tan embossing pad on top of die.

Place Acrylic embossing mat on top of tan pad.

Roll thru Revolution machine.

NOTE: The QuicKutz® tool has a “sweet spot” of cutting area in the center of the cutting platform. When cutting with a Spellbinders Die, it may be necessary to center the desired portion of the die inside the hand tool’s cutting platform. If a good cut is not obtained with the fi rst squeeze, the die may be moved

Welcome to the old Dutch art of Spirelli. Spellbinders’ Spirellabilities dies makes creating this paper art quick and easy.

Cutting and embossing with Spirellabilities:

Prepare cutting sandwich according to Spellbinders’ Compatibility Chart.

Place die on the base, cut edge up.

Lay paper on top and complete the sandwich.

Run it through the preferred machine to cut.

Emboss using Spellbinders’ Tan Embossing Mat.

Turn die over and add details by inking, chalking or doodling through stencil holes.

Wrapping spirelli shapes

Gather cellophane tape and decorative thread or embroidery floss to create elegantly wrapped Spirelli embellishments.

Tape thread to the back of the Spirelli shape.

Bring the thread up to the front through one of the “valleys” of the shape.

Count over 4 peaks, bringing the thread back down between two peaks.

Move over one peak and bring the thread back up.

Continue with a 4 over and 2 under pattern until returning to the first thread.

Tape the end of the thread to the back and add to project.

Experiment to achieve various looks. The more valley’s skipped the closer the thread will come to the center.

Turn die over and add details by inking, chalking or doodling through stencil holes.

Cutting a window with Shapeabilities:

Prepare cutting sandwich according to Spellbinders’ Compatibility Chart.

Place die inside or under paper element, cut edge up.

Embellish with the die cut as desired.

Embossing only with Shapeabilities

Try this with page borders, cards, photos and more.
